SeAH Steel Holdings Accelerates Expansion into the Middle East Market with Large-Scale Contracts in the UAE

SeAH Steel Holdings is actively pursuing a significant market expansion into the Middle East. Affiliated companies under SeAH Steel Holdings, such as SeAH Steel UAE and INOX TECH, have successively signed large-scale steel pipe supply contracts in the Middle East, demonstrating their competitiveness as major steel pipe suppliers in the Middle Eastern market.

SeAH Steel Holdings has secured significant contracts for large-scale API pipelines and clad (steel pipes from ADNOC, the largest state-owned oil company in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), leveraging its production facilities, SeAH Steel UAE, and INOX TECH in Italy.

SeAH Steel UAE will supply approximately 200,000 tons of API pipelines for ADNOC's oil and gas projects over a period of five years. The API steel pipes supplied by SeAH Steel UAE are used for transporting crude oil and natural gas containing hydrogen sulfide. These high-specification steel pipe products exhibit excellent resistance to hydrogen embrittlement and internal corrosion. Having established a manufacturing base in the UAE and earned recognition by supplying various steel pipe products for ADNOC's energy projects since 2011, SeAH Steel UAE is expected to enhance its stability in the supply volume and profitability through this long-term contract.

INOX TECH, an Italian special pipe manufacturing subsidiary, will supply approximately 14,000 tons of clad steel pipes for ADNOC's Hail & Ghasha gas field project. The Hail & Ghasha gas field project is a venture to develop the Hail and Ghasha gas fields in the northern Persian Gulf of the UAE. The project involves transporting offshore-drilled natural gas to onshore facilities, where impurities like sulfur are removed to produce high-purity gas. INOX TECH plans to sequentially supply clad steel pipes combining corrosion-resistant alloy steel (CRA) and carbon steel for the Hail & Ghasha project from the first half of 2024. INOX TECH's clad steel pipes maintain strength and corrosion resistance comparable to conventional alloy steel while offering cost competitiveness. SeAH Steel Holdings sees the clad steel pipe market as entering an era of innovation and aims to seize a leading position in the Middle East's clad steel pipe market based on the recent success of INOX TECH's contract.

A SeAH Steel Holdings official stated, "Overseas production subsidiaries are gaining recognition as key suppliers in the energy steel pipe market, securing competitiveness through consecutive large-scale contracts in the Middle East." The official further mentioned, "With the successful delivery of this project, we plan to continue sustainable growth by securing additional orders for energy projects in the Middle East, including the UAE."
